One of Alba Court’s key perks is being located in the heart of New Smyrna’s historic district. It is walking distance to New Smyrna Beach’s beautiful downtown filled with bustling shops, festivals, and delicious restaurants.
In 1906 the Savage Family of Northeast Harbor opened the Alba Court Inn on the northside of Washington St. between Faulkner and Hillman St. (115 Washington St.). This 26 room hotel was used for all of the snowbirds from Main and other northern states during the winter for a sun-filled getaway. It was built by James and Clyde Pennell. It had 3 floors and the atrium-style lobby provided cross ventilation to the guest rooms. In 1917 they added steam heat and gas via in-room plumbing.
Over the years it went through a variety of changes all within the travel industry. However, in 2007 it was demolished and sat vacant until now.
Alba Court Residences & Adult Day Care plans on opening in January 2021 and wanted to honor the history and name of the original structure that stood before it.
