Alba Court Residences Activity Calendar

Importance of Daily Activity Calendars in Assisted Living Facilities

Where is home? Home is more than just a physical building; it is “where you become yourself” (Quote by Pico Iyer). Here at Alba Court Residences, our goal is to take care of the body, mind and spirit. Oftentimes, when seniors are at home alone they tend to become isolated. It is important to socialize, stay active and engage in hobbies. After seniors move into Assisted Living Facilities they can find a wide variety of activities and people to socialize with which can improve their overall quality of life. When you move into the community, don’t forget to ask for the Activity Calendars to help you get connected and have some fun!

Physical Activity:

It is important for seniors to engage in regular moderate aerobic activity and/or muscle strengthening exercises to help improve balance and prevent falls. Along with decreasing their risk of adverse conditions such as stroke, cancers, type 2 diabetes, depression and dementia. As we age our muscles shorten, bones grow brittle and balance decreases. Here at Alba Court Residences we will offer daily exercise programs based on the needs of our residences and they will be listed on our activity calendars. Some of these activities include stretching routines that can lengthen the muscle tissues.

Social Activity:

Socializing is key to help prevent increased risk of depression and dementia. At Alba Court there will be multiple activities planned each day so they can socialize with like-minded individuals who have similar interests.

Mind Exercises:

By participating in daily activities that challenge the mind it can improve reasoning abilities, memory and the ability to learn. These activities include puzzle solving, dancing, painting, games, reading and musical instruments. These activities paired with the increase of oxygen and blood circulating through our brains from the physical activity is key to increasing cognitive abilities.
